| Oh,
hello Mr President

| I
met Bill Clinton by accident once. Unbeknown to me he was visiting
Oxford because his daughter Chelsea had got a scholarship to the
University. He was staying in the Randolph hotel in the centre of
town. On that day I happened to be out with a friend, walking through
the city when we saw a crowd of people blocking the pavement. We
pushed through to cross the road in-front of the hotel, oblivious
to the fact that these people had lined the streets to see the ex-president.
Just at that moment the man left the hotel foyer, crossed the road
and walked right up to me. So I was the first to shake his hand.
"Welcome to Oxford", I said.
So the
moral of the story is - always push yourself to the front of the
crowd. You don't get to meet world leaders by looking over someone
else's shoulders.
