Virtual
Networking
I've
been playing about with online networking. You can read my
Ecademy profile here. I haven't got round to MySpace and LinkedIn
yet but you can find me easily on Facebook (do a search for Ayd Instone).
With all
these virtual networks I'm beginning to think it might be a lot
less complicated just to go outside and meet people.
Imagine
what it's going to be like for our children's children who will
grow up with this online profile concept from the start. No-one
will really be a stranger. You'll never be able to meet anyone who
you can't check up on what their favourite films or books are, who
they know or what Greek god they're like.
With all
this technology being available on your phone, we may never need
to introduce ourselves to anyone again, with our iPhones bleeping
to us with the details of the person sat opposite on the bus. With
everyone having an online identity, will anyone really be a stranger?
My son
(who's nearly two) will be saying to his children "Don't verbalise
to strangers... until you've checked the testimonial ranking on
their profile." Or something like that.
