Oddball observations, an excited unbridled optimisim and an obsessive attention to detail personify Ayd's stand-up routine.

Inspired by the early 90s renaissance in comedy Ayd teamed up with Chris Michael in his 'Life of Spice' surreal stage show in 1993 before forming a double act called 'Quiff and Curly' based on the photo strip the they had run in Oxford Brookes Students' Union magazine, 'The Last Edition'. The pair went on to perform a number of notable gigs in Oxfordshire to large crowds at society events such as Oxford Town Hall Fashion Gala and various student balls. At their 1994 Christmas Show they auctioned off an ordinary walnut whip for £75 (including £25 just for the nut). When Chris left Oxford for London to pursue a career in television Ayd continued to host student events until 1995 when he swapped the comedy stage for the rock 'n' roll with his band, Luma Chroma.

By 2000, Chris returned to Oxford after having setup touring environmental theatre company Momo Theatre. Along with his colleague, Alex Jeapes he had set up a new surreal comedy cabaret 'The Big Do'. Ayd was asked to guest star and performed regularly as 'Gincko Binko'. The monthly Big Do ran for four years.

The character of Gincko Binko began as a challenge to perform motivational comedy - comedy that didn't put anyone down but instead built everybody up. The act proved to be a great success. Ayd was approached to perform the act for a business networking group in 2004 and this led directly to the formation of the Ideas Workshop seminars which in turn led to more training, after-dinner keynote speaking and conferences.

Ayd continues to perform on the comedy circuit. If you would like to book him for a club or an event please contact us on 01865 779944 or email comedy@aydinstone.com.

Learn to be humourous:
Surely You Must Be Joking - training keynote speech

Humour is a serious business and it’s not at all about jokes. So many speakers do themselves a disservice by thinking 'I can’t tell jokes' or 'I’m just not funny' or even worse, thinking that there is a speaking situation where humour is inappropriate - trust me, there isn’t! In this session we’ll explore how to develop a sense of humour as opposed to an appreciation of humour, how to source funny material and find ways each of us can relax into our own humourous style for our presentations. To unlock our humour we need to shed our protective cloaks of pretension and stuffiness and understand our own uniqueness instead of trying to be someone else with someone else’s gags. We’ll explore how to find ways each of us can relax into our own humourous style. It really is the way you tell ’em.
